Chapter Eight : The Girl with The Magic Hair & The Man with The Mysterious Bag

“So, Ms. Xela, what do you know about Gela, or what do you remember?”

She looks up at Kayden and recalled,

“I’m not sure but there was chocolate and flowers just like those.”

She points over to pink blooms trailing along the coastline foothills and gaze back to their spot in the ocean as if tracing back her memories, frequently blinking as her mind flashes and skips on the way back to her present moment. She blinks out of it, with her finger on her half open mouth and gives the crew a shrug of confidence. Trenton whispers to the Edward standing by,

“Maybe we should give her some chocolate and see if she remembers more”

“Maybe we should give her to the hospital”, says Edward bewilderingly.

“No, you idiot, she’s trying to find her amor”, cries Carpe.

“Krakenny, will you get her settled in, we’ll make sail shore”, commanded Captain Kayden.

“Are we not going to point out that this lady had crazy, cool looking blue hair, that’s now purple?” Al asks with a monotone voice.

Franc face-palms at his fellow crewman’s comment. The pure lack of smoothness which left him more speechless than her lack of recollection.

“You know, I’m sure more will come back to me, I’m just a bit lost and new in, I mean got lost and new to town. I had a boat, and it drifted off somewhere when I went on a swim and then I remembered, oh, I should probably get back but then I realized my boat was gone and then, huge waves came, and I got pushed farther out and now we’re here”.

“You poor thing, I’m not great at swimming for a sea crewman but you must have been terrified”, cries Carpe as he wipes his tears with tissues he intended to give Xela.

“There’s a tub over there, I can heat up some water, we’re having stew tonight”, says Trenton when he hears the crewman’s stomach rumbles over Carpe’s cries.

“Thank you all for your kindness”, she walks towards the tub and look back with a smiling wave.

“See you all for dinner”.

“Is that glitter? Where did all this glitter come from? Al comments as he looks at the floor deck.

“Must be the trick of the light”, Marco replied without looking at the floor, leaving his eyes on Xela, haven’t said anything the whole encounter.

“Oh, did I say my name is Marco”, he mumbles and stares back at the rest of the seamen.

“ Well, I saw this lady with a reary the other day, size of a….”

“Oh my good man, I’m referring to SPACE sightings. I’m talking about things in the sky, you know, asteroids, shooting stars, anything like that”

The cashier looks at Officer Kharbe with skeptical blankness as if his mind was still picturing the lady’s rear rather than processing the intercepted question. Another customer opens the door and the doorbell wakes the cashier’s attention to the question at hand.

“Can’t say I have, don’t look up much. Too bright and I’m more of a ground gazer. What you looking for anyway? Are you getting anything else?”

“Yes, I’m looking for a woman. I mean no”.

Officer Kharbe’s mind was quick to answer his own predicament. No, the sky woman is not something he can simply get at the store. Eyes half open and lips clamped… he realizes the challenge he had embarked on….

“Well, my boy, it’s much easier to find those down here. Don’t look so pissed… there’s a happy man club down the road to town”. The cashier gives a comforting grin and hands Officer Kharbe his change receipt.

Officer Kharbe gives a reassuring wink back for the thoughtful advice and turns around towards the door. As Officer Kharbe walks out, he looks out and sees a dust covered vehicle by his and noticed a sticker on it. It had a familiar insignia; the sign of a patch he had seen at a space conference he had attended. He gets in his glider and wait for the owner of the vehicle to come out.

“Where was that one from… was that ’97, ’96, ’95…. No…that was somewhat recent…but why would they be here.”

Officer Kharbe blows a breath out of his protruding lips with eyes winching with each forced exhale. He captures a picture and sends it to Dr. Rosi’s receiver. A man comes out, holding an igniter stick and another bag. Officer nods approvingly at the sight of the stick to scratching the corner of his lip at the mystery bag.

“Hmmmm…..”

Officer Kharbe starts his glider and pintagged the vehicle’s plate. He starts course to another area on the opposite side of where he remembered seeing the asteroid, avoiding any potential eye contact with the mysterious man.
